Host Your Own Mamma Mia Party
As I’ve been waiting for Mamma Mia to open on Friday, I decided that it might be fun to create a lens on how to Host a Mamma Mia Party. It’s a way for some of us who are a bit older to have some fun with this movie and escape for a bit to Greece in a romantic musical comedy.
In her blog, Anne Thompson noted that “this exuberant Greek Island romantic musical will play great to aging boomers looking to get away from the real world.” Mamma Mia is an escapist fantasy musical for these dark times. I know that I am looking forward to escaping for a few hours.
While I think that planning and throwing a Mamma Mia Party may be more popular once it is available as a DVD, there is still potential for pre-movie premiere Mamma Mia Parties.

I will probably be doing the Mamma Mia Come as You Are Party theme for Friday’s premiere since it will be the easiest one to do with the girls. Later in the week when we head up to the lake to let them play on the beach we might try a Mamma Mia Visit the Greek Isles Party and pack along the soundtrack.

Mamma Mia! This is my first visit to your blog and I’m wondering where in the world you are that you get to have exciting musical extravaganzas to party about. I live in an isolated village in a forest so your life looks pretty exciting from this angle.

I heard from a couple of people that going to see Mamma Mia was just the antidote that they needed to feeling down about recent or not so recent deaths.
I really enjoyed the “dose of sunshine” and feeling uplifted when I left the movie.

I have seen the movie three times already. Tonight I met a woman at the movies who had seen it Nine times.

I am planning on going again this week with my Mom and my daughters.

I am hosting a Mamma Mia Party next week and I am really excited. I will have greek food and the entire house is already decorated with flower and happy garlands. My guests have been asked to dress as Hippies and we will watch the movie together, play charades, Play a Movie trivia game and also have a song contest!

We are having a between the winter storms, pretend it is summer on a Greek island Momma Mia party complete with NO turtle necks, sweaters or boots…sun dresses, hats, sandals only! Lots of Greek food and summer lanterns strung from the ceiling. The wood stove will be blasting and we will be grooving to the sounds of ABBA.
